World VFX Day

By ROSS AUERBACH

The Visual Effects Society was proud to again partner with World VFX Day to shine a light on the art and craft of visual effects. VES presented two engaging 30-minute panel conversations. The first celebrated the innovative films of Georges Méliès, with a close-up look at Le Voyage dans la Lune (1902), linking his techniques to current VFX practices (hosted by archivist and VFX artist Kate Xagoraris and Board of Directors 2nd Vice Chair David Tanaka, VES). The second, “Bridging the Gap in VFX – Collaboration & Innovation,” highlighted excerpts from the VES-hosted VIEW Conference panel.

The 3rd annual day-long event was held live from London on December 8th, the birthday of Georges Méliès, and streamed globally. Packed with interactive panels, roundtable conversations and industry collaborations, VES members were active participants and contributors to the worldwide program.
